Dr Rajit Narayan holds Specialist qualifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G), in both Australia and India. He has more than 20+ years of clinical experience.
Rajit migrated to Australia approximately 20 years ago after completing his O&G Specialist training in Mumbai. Upon arrival in Australia, he completed his Australian Specialist training and achieved Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians (FRANZCOG) in 2010.
MD, FRANZCOG, DDU, CMFM
After being nationally selected for sub-specialist training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) in 2011, Rajit trained under a number of eminent academics and clinicians in Sydney (at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital) and Queensland (Gold Coast University Hospital). He went on to obtain sub-specialty qualifications in Maternal Fetal Medicine in 2014, and since then has held Consultant positions in Queensland, the ACT and Sydney, where he currently works at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Rajit has a special interest in the management of pregnancies of women with complex medical conditions, and in the management and prevention of preterm labour and birth. He is one of only a handful of clinicians in the country skilled in fetal interventions, especially for complex twin pregnancies.
Rajit is also a strong advocate for democratisation of tertiary obstetric services, and attracts referrals from across the country, especially from smaller, less-serviced areas. He is actively involved in several important research projects in the fields of preterm birth prevention and twin pregnancies.
Rajit is an excellent communicator and leaves no stone unturned in making sure all your concerns are addressed, and explanations given. No one steps out of a consultation with him without a firm understanding of the clinical situation they are in, and management plans thereof.
Patients and partners usually bond with Rajit over a variety of common interests ranging from sport to philosophy to politics. Outside of work, Rajit tries to maximise time spent with his loving family and friends.
