Sarika Gupta

Dr Sarika Gupta is a Specialist Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, and trained Sonologist. She completed rigorous sub-specialist training in diagnostic ultrasound at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, as well as the The Royal Women’s Hospital and Monash Hospitals in Melbourne.

MBBS, FRANZCOG, COGU, DDU, MIPH, PhD

Obstetrician, Gynaecologist, Sonologist

Sarika has special interests in the assessment of fetal brain anomalies, as well as in the evaluation of uterine/ovarian malignancies.

To support these interests, Sarika spent 6 months in Paris under the guidance of Professors Yves Ville, Laurent Solomon and Catherine Garel at Necker Hospital and Hospital Trousseau, learning advanced fetal neurosonography techniques.  Similarly, to further her skills in the assessment and characterisation of pelvic malignancies, Sarika spent time at Gemelli Hospital in Rome under the leadership of Professor Antonia Testa where she became proficient in applying IOTA-ADNEX modelling to assist pre-surgical planning.

Sarika also has a passionate interest in public health, in particular expanding access to sexual and reproductive healthcare among disadvantaged communities in the Asia Pacific region. Findings from her PhD demonstrated the various health benefits of long acting reversible contraception among a rural community in Papua New Guinea; ultimately these findings helped to improve access to effective contraception in the postpartum setting.

Personal Life

Outside of the office, Sarika draws on her artistic abilities to create exhibitions that have potent messages for women’s health advocacy: she has curated numerous photography, mixed media and installation exhibitions both in Australia and internationally to improve women’s health, and to raise awareness around family based violence. In her downtime, Sarika enjoys ocean swimming and hanging out with friends, family and Luna (her labrador).
